Hey there. I'm James McGrath, your top Hell's Kitchen real estate broker. I actually had my first apartment right here on 43rd, between 8th and 9th, and I think it's one of Manhattan's most undervalued neighborhoods. What makes Hell's Kitchen stand out? There's a lot going on here. The neighborhood is almost an extension of Broadway. All along 9th Ave and down the side streets towards 8th Ave, you have tons of bars and restaurants that serve the pre-theater crowd. While that might sound overwhelming. The crowds of tourists and theater goers rarely venture past 8th Ave. There's a pre-theater seating that rushes out as quickly as it rushes in. Making it fairly easy to get a table after 7PM. There's also a lot of spots for locals that you won't find on any travel sites. A couple of my favorites are Pure Thai Cookhouse, no surprise it's one of the best Thai spots in the city. If you're hungry and I mean really hungry, you need to go to to Tulcingo on 10th Ave. Their Mexican sandwiches will keep you stuffed all day. And to wash it down there's Rudy's, right around the corner from my first apartment. You can't miss it. There's a huge plastic pig standing outside. Every beer comes with a free hot dog. Aside from the hot dog, you never know what you're going to find there. I was there in 2009 and the guy next to me pointed to his legs and swore "You see these legs? These legs won the Tour de France!" I looked him up when I got home, and he did not win the Tour to France. Hell's Kitchen also has a ton of entertainment and leisure options. Hudson River Park has undergone a huge makeover. Basically all of the piers in the lower 40s have been redone with tons of activities like kayaking, gardening, cycling, or just lounging around. Terminal 5 always has a full schedule on 56th Street. And if you plan ahead you can catch taping of The Daily Show, which has been there since 2005. As far as real estate goes, you have a pretty wide range of options. The neighborhood's history goes back to the 1800s, so you have everything from classic brownstones to brand new developments like the West Residence Club, Bloom, and Charlie West. I've had the pleasure of representing buyers in all three of these new developments. And since you're on the west side, transportation is great. Subway-wise, you have the ACE, 123, NQRW. Port Authority is located on 42nd Street. And venturing a little bit further south, you have Penn Station on 34th Street.
