On the floor of what was once the St John's College Library, this gorgeous one-bedroom loft is sure to turn heads!
The unassuming entrance of the residence begins with a wide coat closet. Directly across is an immaculate kitchen. Perfect for entertaining, it boasts a full suite of stainless steel appliances including full-sized oven, gas cooking range, dishwasher and microwave. The stacked cabinets take full advantage of the high ceilings and there is enough counter-space to cook without shuffling appliances. Recessed lighting and white subway tile complete the picture. Opening into the dining area, there is a second, raised countertop that doubles as a breakfast bar.
The epic height of 14' ceilings is fully realized in the living room where a double-high window rakes in southern sunlight. The stairs leading up to the loft have been rebuilt and reinforced marrying treehouse-style fun with colonial-style comfort. Not an inch of space is wasted: there are multiple storage closets beneath the stairs.
The loft can house myriad setups: a home office, nursery, library, and more. Additionally, it offers a luxurious view of the living room below. The closet is an enormous storage cabinet built into the back wall.
The oversized bedroom can accommodate a king-sized bed (as seen in the photo above) and features a double-high south-facing window. There is ample room for a desk, dresser, night stands and more. Above the wide closet, the wall is empty and can be converted into additional storage.
The bathroom is perfectly positioned: close to the bedroom but with enough separation that guests can access it without veering into personal space. Inside, a wall of green glass subway tile leads to a deep soaking tub with recessed lighting above. The final of five closets within the apartment is the linen closet outside the bathroom.
96 Schermerhorn is a pet friendly elevator building with live-in super and 24/hour doorman. Shared laundry is one floor down from 3B and there is bike storage in the basement. Heat, hot water and cooking gas are all included in the monthly maintenance and built-in PTAC units means never losing a window to a stand-alone AC. At the top of the building, there is an expansive shared roof deck offering sweeping views of Brooklyn Heights, the Financial District and New York Harbor. As a bonus, there is a parking garage across the street from the building's entrance.
Anchored between Brooklyn Heights, Boerum Hill and Cobble Hill, transportation is a breeze: the 2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, F and R trains are all a block away at Borough Hall and Jay St / Metrotech. A little farther, the B and Q trains are available at Dekalb. Restaurants, cafes, bookstores, hardware stores, grocery stores and pharmacies are all within a block of the building. Trader Joes is two blocks away, Norms Pizza is practically around the corner and Brooklyn Bridge Park is just down the road.
